Officer Training

Introduction/Overview

There is a requirement for I Bike Officers to complete a variety of training requirements and hold valid qualifications enabling them to support local school communities by providing engaging activities and training opportunities to pupils, staff and parents in line with any Local Authority requirements.

Training will comprise of both internal (Sustrans) and external courses. Line Managers will direct staff to appropriate courses and providers.

It is the responsibility of all individual staff to maintain valid qualifications where appropriate, making Line Managers aware of any renewal dates and highlighting any additional training needs either at a regular progress review meeting or during an annual appraisals.

Training Costs

Training costs will generally be covered by Sustrans within project budgets, through for more specialised training tailored to an individual there may be a requirement for costs to be shared from private funds.

Shadow Opportunities & Peer Learning

Across the I Bike Team we have a wealth of knowledge, experience and qualifications which can be utilised to support other project areas.

Throughout the delivery year, Officers are encouraged to allocate time to shadow and learn from a fellow colleague and also provide opportunities to reciprocate peer learning.
