Volunteer Training

Overview

We recognise our I Bike Volunteers dedicate a significant amount of their spare time and give access to skills and knowledge which is instrumental in supporting delivery of a variety of I Bike activities.

For these reasons it is important that we want support and encourage volunteers to complete available training, most of which is offered for free.

What do you need to know?

Full details of the induction information can be found here and training available to our volunteers can be found here.

Volunteers gain valuable knowledge and experience when working closely with their respective I Bike Officer, so please consider how volunteers can be included not just in the delivery of activities in schools, but also in the planning, preparation and back of house operations such as bike fleet maintenance, route planning etc.

Top tips

  1. Include opportunities for vols to support you in both delivery and preparation tasks
  2. Maintain regular communication with your volunteers, by email, WhatsApp, SMS find out what suits everyone
  3. Regularly publish activities and opportunities to TeamUp and encourage new vols to sign up who may feel a little less confident
  4. Identify any local training needs to your Vol. Coordinator
