I Bike Volunteers provide valuable support to our I Bike Officers and to schools - helping create a lasting legacy of active travel in schools and communities.
We welcome parents, carers, grandparents, anyone from the school or wider community to volunteer with I Bike. You might be helping out with bike rides or outdoor learning walks; teaching children to cycle for the first time, helping with playground cycle and scooting skills sessions, fixing bikes, and more!
With volunteers' support, it means that I Bike officers and schools can run more activities and help get more children active!
Are you interested in volunteering with I Bike with local schools, or at your child's school?
It's such a fun and rewarding role to help get children active, out in the fresh air and give them skills for life. Volunteering can also help you learn new skills, boost your CV and improve your own mental and physical health.
We provide a range of free (funded by Sustrans) training courses for volunteers, such as Cycle Ride Leader / Assistant; Bikeability Scotland Instructor; bike maintenance and teaching learner cyclists.
Current areas where we have volunteering opportunities with I Bike are Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Dumfries & Galloway, East Dunbartonshire, East Lothian, Edinburgh, Fort William, Perth & Kinross and West Lothian.
A PVG check is needed for this role; Sustrans will arrange this with you.
Volunteering with communities and adults
We also have opportunities to volunteer with our I Bike Communities team in Aberdeen, Perth and Dumfries and Galloway. You would be supporting adults with cycle confidence sessions, led rides, bike maintenance and more.
