Encouraging active travel - information and support
What is a "bike bus" and how can I set one up? Find out more on Sustrans main website
Recently, it’s been fantastic to see an increase in the number of families taking up walking, cycling and scooting. But we know that changing the way we travel can raise a lot of questions. We have created some videos and resources to help parents and carers. Sustrans also has some great advice on Walking, cycling and wheeling during Covid-19 in Scotland (opens in a new webpage).
There is general advice for parents further down the page.
Encourage your children
I Bike schools deliver indoor and outdoor walking, cycling and scooting activities which help increase children’s skills and confidence. Activities are designed to teach children about the importance of being active and will boost their enthusiasm for traveling actively.
There are a few things you can do if you and your child are keen to become more active (the links in the section below will each open a new page):
If you would like to get involved – you can help at an I Bike session or become a regular volunteer. Get in touch with your school or contactIBike@sustrans.org.uk
